I have a WRSport Backbox on my MY00.
I would like to change the downpipe and centre section to get more power. However I don't really want to completely decat it but rather just have one cat and still be "road legal".

Whats the best way of achieving this...

1) Decat downpipe with original centre section.
2) Downpipe with cat (eg. Graham Goode) plus decat centre section.
3) Decat downpipe with catted centre section (eg. Power Eng.)
4) Any other options?

What would be the best option for power and ease of passing future MOTs.

I would fullydecat but you dont want to so I would fully decat the downpipe & get a performance cat centre pipe.

 

What would this combination cost roughly? Est. bhp gain? noise gain? Cheers!

 

A good compromise is to replace the centre cat and leave the standard downpipe in place, for one this is the easiest option if you are fitting it yourself and it also is fully road legal.

Noise gains will also be smaller taking this option. You can decat the centre section and replace the back box for around £275 ish.

I understand what you say but I want to get the gains of replacing the downpipe but still retain one cat.

Should that cat be in the downpipe or in the centre section?

I think the set up that Jamie is recommending is as per a grey import layout?
The centre section has a silencer but no cat, with the downpipe containing the only cat.

In that case it is possible to replace the Downpipe and keep the centre section as standard. I see no problem in doing that.
