A couple of things:

Has GIST (translation web service) stopped translating from Japanese to English or is it just me????

Have you been on the Subaru Japan site recently (link below), there would appear to be an STi VII S?

 

Well it looks like it's got the 6 speed transmission... which i can't see on the other sti car specs.

 

Nope, the std STi7 has the 6 speed (and jolly nice it is too).

I bought my STi 7 a few days before this one was announced and I'm mightly pissed off that the dealer didn't tell me there was a new model coming out.

However, the only difference I can see between that and the original STi is the lack of the stereo and a comment that it's a more sporty version. Somewhere between a STi and a STi RA.

From what I can see it's seems a pointless model, so maybe there is something else.

I'm getting my first service done soon so I'll ask the dealer while I'm there.

BTW, I use babelfish.altavista.com for the translations.

does the normal sti7 have brembos? this one does.

 

this has been out a few months now...
it is a reduced cost version of the sti - to compete with the lancer evo 7 on price...
it has all the important bits but some of the frilly bits removed to save money - like the kenwood cd, fancy ignition key and other trim options removed - otherwise its the same.

oh - and the GIST people have removed the translate japanese option - swines!

The STi sedan has brembos, the wagon doesn't and the RA doesn't if you get the 16 inch wheels.
