After some advice please folks.

I'm about to buy a six speed box for my V3 Type R.

I've driven plenty of six speeds before but I have never driven a car with DCCD.

My Type R has always had a non DCCD UK six speed under my ownership.

So my question is will I be better to look for a DCCD box or just go with what I know and get a non DCCD six speed.

Can someone give me some insight into what a car is like to drive with DCCD.

Also bear in mind the car is 600bhp+

Go for the DCCD, it makes a massive difference to driving (especially on track). If you can, get one from the RA R. I use one and had the rear diff tightened up as I wanted the rear deliver power differently. Get a proper diff controller too like Neetronics or similar. I run on a dry track with almost all power through the rear, but the diff controller can be set for different characteristics at different speeds.

Its always been fine with big power through it too.

Is the Neetronics a viable replacement for the DCCD controller though? Does it do an "auto" mode, locked, open etc? Or do you literally just configure power from front to back?

 

Its a great bit of kit. No real 'auto' mode, but it does have progressive (with speed), handbrake, foot brake, 10 personal settings (whatever you want from 0 - 100%).

You have to set it all up for what you want, although it does have settings in there out of the box.

I have one of these in my Legacy. It has a full auto mode which calculates how much lock to give by taking readings from G-sensors, and you can use the thumb wheel to choose how agreesive the program is.

Awesome traction in the wet... I go out to play in the rain!!

 

Definately more fun to have DCCD depending on your driving style, But at 600bhp i`d take an educated guess you dont potter about, lol, I find you can get the car a bit more balanced out of the corners than without it.

I`ve found that DCCD-A can take a bit to get used to, My last scoob didn`t have it but current one does, After not having it for 5 years then driving a car that has it can be fun to get used to, Without it ive found when you drive a car that you are used to and get the feeling it just gonna start to step out and you know just when to manually correct it, But with the DCCD-A when you get in the same situation and are just about to correct it the car always beats you to it and you end up over correcting any lairy behaviour if you are not used to it, The trick is to keep your foot down and let the car do its stuff if you have the *****, obviously on the roads its difficult but i took it to elvington in August and had a few runs on the handling course its amazing how much fun you can have if there`s nothing but a cone to hit,

After typing that i realised that i dont think you can get the fully functional Auto mode to work on a V3 with some controllers, Not sure which ones but could be wrong, Anyway ive typed it so i`m posting it,

I was but removed that control from it until I have changed the wiring on the car. Instead I am using the std thumbwheel to alter power front and rear (always with dccd-a off on track as it cant cope in that environment and maks the car unstable IMHO)

Daz - makes the car pointier and more controllable and fine tune to conditions / bravery levels. With a LSD rear diff it is immense as you saw at Knockhill I loved power sliding out of the hairpin

 

Daz definately go for a DCCD box makes a world of difference on track. You can change the set up depending on track conditions etc as well as a host of other uses. I would also seriously look at the neetronics as your prefered method of control.
