Is there any benefits in fitting an aftermarket up-pipe to the STi 5/6 / P1 cars??

I fitted an up pipe to my STI 2 it certainly felt alot more lively than with the standard part , I didn't have alot of choice but to fit one as the standard pipe kept splitting .
