Default Uping the boost

Anyone know how you up the the boost on a standard turbo on an 05 blobeye (cheaply)? Only mod on the engine is a dump valve & I've got a 2.5 cat back H&S exhaust.

Remap, boost is ECU controlled.

It's not a good idea to simply 'up' the boost without a remap. Although it's possible to do it cheaply, it's ill advised

you can use an mcb mechanical boost valve, there around £20 off flea bay but you will need to check your afr`s (fuelling) to be on the safe side, also 1.1 bar will be around your limit as anymore and the fuel cut will kick in

Cheers been told 1.1 bar max & it would make a big difference hence the enquiry. Also been told a boost gauge would be needed.

£20 for a mechanical boost valve for a little extra poke for a week, then £2000 for engine rebuild. Yeah makes sense

alternatively cut a hole in the pipe coming off the actuator, that'll make it boost off the chart Got 2bar of boost from my VF34 when that pipe split, fixed it immediately though. Sure fire way to kill a turbo and engine.

Things should be done properly or not at all. If you can't afford to modify it just wait until you can. Loads of crap I'd like to do but I need £8k for my next bunch of mods.

Not sure how you work out 1.1 bar is where the cut off comes in, a PPP'd car runs at around 1.2 bar, you may well find the cut off point around 1.4-1.5 bar on this year car.

Anyway, as said, only one safe way of doing this and thats with a remap and someone who knows what they are doing I would avoid manual boost controllers unless you have an array of other gadgets to back it up (boost gauge, lambda link, knock link/ks 3 etc)

worded it wrong, 1.1 bar will keep you away from the fuel cut because if you start going beyond this you will start hitting the fuel cut which is not a place to be, ie you will be thrown through the windscreen and land with your head stuck up a horses ****

As other have said mate, go with a remap, it's the safest option and there are quite few different avenues available from os to ecutek, to ecu replacement all with varying costs but definitely worth it.

Remap mate dont risk the life of your engine, you could end up with engine rebuild so be careful
