Barclays Shares...should I sell?
#1
I have 50 or so Barclays shares. I would get meore return from selling then and putting the cash in an ISA.
The question is, Barclays want to divide them into more lower value shares:
ie, 1 current share = £20
proposed: 4 shares = £5.
This is to be decided soon. Are they going to give us anything extra when this happens?

Generally share splits are good as there is a maximum price people feel comfortable with per share, so they tend to go up more if they're worth less individually.
At the end of the day it's a gamble - Barclays may or may not outperform an ISA - you'll only know afterwards, now it's pure speculation.
BTW - you don't really expect to get useful advice on here do you ?

As at now, Barclays are selling at £24.20 (which IMHO is excellent). Saying that when they were at £23.60 yesterday mid-morning I thought thet wouldn't go higher.
I've worked for Barclays for 15years and this is the highest the shares have ever been. Today is the day when the supposed share split announcement is taking place, so who knows what is going to happen with then price.
Generally though, if you are happy with the price and have taken as much profit out of it as you are happy with, then go for it. That's the fun of playing the Stock Market

Remember Shares can go down as well as up. Pigs can fly when put in a canon and E does equal MC squared.
I also agree, never believe a word anyone says on here!
