Default Oh well it's new gearbox time, question about transmission types

Howdy ho!

Well that suspicious whine I noticed a while ago has got worse and it turns out it's the gearbox not good when you're a scummy student like me!!

I've had a bit of conflicting advice what I can fit in my scoob.

I've got a 2001 bugeye wagon.

Transmission type is TY754VN2AA.

Do I have to get the exact one again to fit it straight into my car? Or can I fit a TY754VN4AA into it cos I've found a re-conditioned and uprated one on ebay? The seller on ebay says I can fit it.

Another question, would you fit a new clutch at the same time the cars done 95k and I can't find any receipts to say it's been done before.

Sorry one more question on a different note - My rear shock absorbers are leaking oil so they need replacing. Does it matter if the fronts and the back don't match because I've found some KYB Excel-G I was thinking about buying.

I'm looking forward to your replies

thanks

Chris

the TY754VN4AA is a straight replacement for your unit

when the box is out its worth while changing clutch or at some point box will be coming back out to do it.
aslong as u replace shocks in pairs (ie front pair or rear pair) you ll be fine

Lovely thanks for your replies

Am I right in thinking a ty754vn1aa, 2aa, 3aa and 4aa will all just fit straight into my car?
