Hi,
I'm de-bugging my latest build at the moment. It's a VW beetle cabrio with early CDB WRX engine.
Other mods are as follows:
legacy air/water chargecooler
ported stock exhaust manifold
bellmouth into 3" exhaust system with 3" pipework (whole system is fairly short)
Forced air intake through enclosed panel filter
VOS remap
td05 turbo
dawes fitted between boost solenoid and intake to prevent boost overshoot & fuel cut

On to my question: boost builds very quickly up to 0.5 bar and then it seems to take a looong time to eventually get to about 1 bar (a good 6000rpm). I'm sure it should be significantly better than this?

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Mapped for the 3" system ?

 

The VOS remap comes in two different flavours, one td04 and one td05, both assume basic mods but are obvioulsy standard tunes, I have the td05 one. Adrian VOS states that more efficient intake systems can be tuned using a dawes between the boost control solenoid and the intake to bring it back in line which is why I added it due to the stock system being open loop..

 

Seems a bit too simple, mapping is a complex issue. I would imagine you'd need to go to an aftermarket ecu to get any real joy. Might be worth spending some time with a Subaru specific garage, maybe on a rolling road to set it up correctly ?
