Default Classic clutch master cylinder

Hi guys,
I'm having issues getting my car into gear after a little day at santa pod. I've pulled the cap off the clutch master cylinder, its like rusty water in there, it is actually water from what i can tell, too thin for brake fluid. Anyway, my question is, should there be a rubber seal on the cap?? mine does not & surely as it has brake fluid in it which absorbs water, it should? Also what the best method for bleeding the clutch system?
Cheers.

Looking at mine there is a rubber o ring around the sticky out part of the cap which fits inside the reservoir.
I bled mine the same as doing the brakes.

Thanks, i think that where my problem has started then as mine has nothing and is a loose crap fitting lid. I think i'm going to replace master cylinder & slave to be on safe side.
