after advice please on what you guys are running, really want to lower the car 2001 bug wrx with 18" but not sure what to go for, so interested to see what you guys are using and how you find them.

Definitely go for Prodrive lowering springs and a proper geometry setup.

I had coilovers on my Spec C and the best thing I did was to change them for a set of uprated STi struts with Prodrive lowering springs. The ride on coilovers is quite frankly cr@p unless you go for a really expensive set, and most of them need rebuilding every couple of years at around £600 a time.

sit spec c shocks and apex lowering springs on mine. If you can afford it change the shocks as well, but you could just change the springs. Rich (redwards) did mine for me and did a top job.

Have a look at some H&R lowering springs.

 

Eventually I'm going for Prodrive or Tein lowering springs for my STi shocks - if you get Prodrive make sure they are for the WRX struts (assumng that's what you have fitted) as they make springs for WRX and STi struts

 

I have prodrive fast road competition springs on standard STi shocks with uprated Prodrive bumpstops....

handling is awsome, ride is a little bumpy but hey if i wanted comfort I would have bought a normal car lol!

 

So you do listen to what I tell you then.

Go for Prodrive over the Teins.

 

If you can find a set of STi struts with Prodrive springs (try for a WR1 being broken, there's a couple on Scoobynet at the moment) other than that get a set of WRX springs.

 

i think that pengam part mart has a full set of sti shocks and springs on the shelf but not sure how much they want,but give them a shout for a price !

I've driven Scoobs with Cuscos and Teins on, both were boneshattering! My R with standard STi shocks and lowering springs are better but I'd get a set of KW Coilovers in a heartbeat! Som much nicer than normal ones and slightly stiffer than OEM!

 

Coilover fan myself. Had mine about 5 years and they are still spot on. They don't have to be bone shakers, It's just most people set the dampers too stiff. As Ty said, don't go for cheapys though, I bought Tein, excellent quality and cheaper in the long run

 

KYB AGX adjustable shocks and Prodrive (P1) springs on my Classic transformed it.

You can wind them down for a bit of enthusiastic driving or up for normal everyday stuff. Takes seconds to do.

 

Sorry to hijack. But where's a good place to get prodrive springs from?

 

I'm with taylor running apex coilovers with 18's and 35 profile tyres on a classic. The ride can be adjusted from softer than standard to boneshaker in about 30 seconds flat! The springs are the 'fast road' I think 6kg fronts and 5 kg rears.. it's all about the spring rate!
