Default The dreaded brake judder

Hi all.

Car is currently suffering from brake judder, quite annoying on a recent 600 mile round trip.

It's on PF disks, with NDX pads, the braking performance is fine, but the judder can be awful, jogging right through the steering.

The problem seems to be caused by not using the brakes hard enough, some intensive braking seems to restore a normal feel, but then some regular street driving and the judder returns.

So my question, are these basically pretty new and expensive PF disks ruined? Or will a really hard session on the brakes cure it for good ?

If they are ruined then i would stay away from PF for the replacements, do all high performance disks suffer from this or are PF particularly prone?

Thanks.

that is almost certainly a pad material issue rather than disc, sounds more like pad drop-out or build up.........

have the discs always been run with this pad and how was "bedding" carried out, what use??

Hi

Originally on PF Z compound, no judder, but no braking either (from cold).
Changed to some standard pads, trouble started soon after.

Now on NDX, fantastic braking, but very annoying judder.

I must admit, not followed any specific bedding in process, didn't know it was so vital ???

I have exactly the same issue on the PF discs, but with the Z compound pads..... my other issue is that the pedal feel very "dull", brakes work well, but you really have to stand on them, but they work really well when doing the heavy stops.

went through very heavy stops as per beddin process, then all fine for a little while and judder was back.

Just been out and did a few hard braking runs, they feel a bit better, but I'm expecting the judder back soon.

Dont want to have to replace the disks again, but it's looking likely - sigh....

Before you replace them, what about having them put on a brake lathe and then rebed the NDX pads?

Could be warped disks, just watched a episode of wheeler dealers which had a bugeye with the same problem judder under breaking, they uprated the whole system to brembo's!, talk about sledgehammer to crack a nut.
