Default New guy!!!

Hi im new to the world of scoobys and also to this club so i would like to say hello! Ok ive recently bought a blobeye on a 2003 and would like to know what performance upgrades are worth spending the time and money on. At the mo since getting it last week ive fitted a cold air induction kit added a cold air feed, a BOV which im not fussed about as its noisy,got some iridium plugs in and all in all its going ok. Ok would like it to have good useable power so thinking about a full de-cat full 3" stainless a decent remap an possibly a boost adjuster??? what do you guys think??
Generaly im in the know as i used to be a mechanic for 8 years before becoming an aircraft engineer, but ive never specialised in these cars and would like to know all the pros and cons.

Hi there hello and welcome...How to say,you are make mistake with CAIK(cold air induction kit) and BOV,i will advise return to panel filter(K&N or Green Cotton will be perfect,or standard STi one) and fit OEM BOV which will be better and will be quieter.
Now about the 3"exhaust,if you fut decated exhaust you will need remap,about the boost adjuster/controller,you are don't need boost "adjuster"/controller because your ECU can control boost safely and have very good boost control.

Hi thanks for the reply after fitting the cold air feed i noiticed a performance increase in the car but thats most prob to do with the original paper filter being damp and bogging. i guessed that a feed from the wing instead of the engine bay would give me better cold air feed?? and getting rid of the air resonator box would leave me with better airflow? but the BOV has just gave me a whoosh noise with is a bit barry.
are the recircalate valves better?? also ive noticed that road noise from the rear is a little noisy so ive changed the rear diff oil with some 75 90 i think its made it better but its still bugging me.

Im gonna get it remaped shortly, whats the max boost the standard ecu can deal with?

1.55 bar i think which is around 22 psi, its up to you if you want to keep the cold air induction kit as it does source cold air from the wing rather than hot air in the engine and is better for your engine. the bov on the other hand, change it back to a standard one as the car will drive way smoother. also I would not drive around with these mods, try to keep off boost until your remap and don't thrape it until then. because you have put a cold air induction kit on the Mass Air Flow sensor will be confused slightly by the extra air and there could be serious consequences.

Hi there panel filter and OEM airbox is optimized for your car,some guys running 400bhp on standard OE airbox and TMIC.
If you are want get induction kit you can have look for RCM cone filter which are mostly used,but as i said before,just now don't drive on boost at moment for your own safety,more people trying run induction kit and later found better performance with K&N,Green cotton panel filters.
How to say,about the BOV,if you want still good performance and this sound you can have look for Forge VTA,HKS oneswhich are good and are proven,Baileys Dump Valves are worse...
About rear diff oil i don't know nothing there,sorry i cannot help you with this

On New Ages ECU is maximum around 1.55 bar,but some running 1.7 bar from standard ECU.
After remap you will see around 330-340bhp...

330-340 that sounds too much from a map??? id guess a 40 maybe 50 gain??

You are now running around 260-280bhp and with remap you will run around 330-340bhp.

I wud keep your cold air feed from your wing as it's much better I use to have a HKS induction kit but it was taking hot air in from the engine bay so now have cold air from the wing
As for your Baileys get shut they are s h i t lol
Forge are much better

Agree with the baileys rubbish comment but had two faulty forge BOVs int he last week too.

The std dump valve is easily the best and as all these aftermarket ones can only ever make things worse in return for a silly noise - why bother?

As said a remap on your std ecu will see around the 330bhp mark with that 3 inch full decat exhaust but a massive difference in driveability & torque which is far more important IMO. Some make more power but 330 is a good average.

I am often in south wales - you have some cracking scooby roads

I may be wrong but im pretty sure his car is a wrx , therefore 260-280bhp max

I thought a wrx std only pushed 240? and a sti 260?

A 'tuned' wrx with stock turbo around 260-280, totally stock around 225.

My wrx just ran 353 on the roller on Sat
And it's a bugeye lol
