Bout 18 months ago saw a white scooby with "TypeRA" on the back. Looked brand new.

I want to know what exhaust system that model has as standard. This example exited from about a 4" (round) pipe from a box that was about 5" (oval). All was matt black, angled slightly upwards.

It sounded like thunder..... you could hear every exhaust valve opening on tickover. The ground shook.

Any ideas what that exhaust is, a standard design, or an after-market?

& what's the loudest legal exhaust in the UK?

The Type RA just had a Subaru Exhaust as standard, but the one you saw could of been a BPM Twister.

Failing that the HKS and Blitz Systems are like thunder too!

aren't those all Stainless back boxes?

this one was all matt-black.

 

Hmm good point!

Maybe it was a Greddy TR Competition Muffler which have black boxes and pipes but a large 4 -5" stainless Oval tailpipe which bends slightly up?

this exhaust was all matt-black.

The car was a white 4 door "Type-RA" scoobie. The owner seemed to have bought off-shelf product.

It appeared very factory finished perfect. Not a DIY job.

The tail-pipe:
was about 4 or 5 inch wide, round, BUT only about 1- 1.5 inch long. (A short extension of the back box.)

the back-box:
about an inch larger on width but oval-shaped so it was more width than height.

Impression: the whole system was the biggest thing you could sling under a car. If it was bigger it would not fit behind the rear valance, or it would have scraped the ground.

This was a standard item or off-shelf component not a DIY manufacture. It was all brand new & bolted-on.

Hint: it made an almighty bl))dy racket on tickover.

 

another thing; The upward tilt was of the whole system, not the exit pipe section.

The exit pipe was square out of the back box.

just the whole system was angled noticeably upwards including the back box.

 

Think I've seen these... Sparco or Presto ?? offered in all blue or black.

 

Dont know what exhaust is on it now but it was definitely not standard they run a standard exhaust well my MY00 RA did have

 

oh and no centre cat even though it looks like it does from the outside
