Hi guys with money being a bit tight at the moment ive been offered a second hand clutch for my95 wrx but the guy said the friction plate is unevenly worn but the car it came out of drove perfectly fine and didnt slip with it what should i do?

It's obviously not ideal but if needs must I suppose, just try n save for a new one, it's Anyones guess how LNG a second hand one will last

 

how would i be able to tell how much life is left on it?

 

For the price of a clutch vs the hassle and cost of changing one, I would fit a new one.

Cost of labour in fitting a proper new one further down the line would probably outweigh any short term saving. Just because it drove fine in his car doesn't mean it will in yours.

Unless you're capable of doing the labour yourself.
And if you were capable of the labour element, then perhaps a reconditioned one might be a bit better.

It would be easier for you to say what power/torque you're planning on running and I can recommend something suitable.

your wasting your time fitting secondhand ... it's not just the plate that wears the pressure plate springs also wear and fault

 

im just running standard basically 280bhp tops possibly wanting to run 300-320bhp with similar torque?

 

I would recommend uprated for anything above 300:
