MY99 Can only be mapped by Ecutek, better going for a simtek and getting rid of the maf

Was going to buy a new maf anyway so might be a good idea! Any idea on the different costs?

Ecutek 1st map (inc license), around £650.

MY99 "green stripe/post-2006 MAF" (the good one!), £100+ from ICP.

Simtek, around £1000 fitted/mapped.

Had a chat today, I think it was Duncan,

Turns out he doesn't do Ecutek mapping so if I was to use him I'd have to go for the Simtek or some other open source ECU

I don't think it is worth the extra £250 that it will cost me so I'm not sure which way to go with it now....

You would get some of the £250 back by not having to replace the maf, also you can run an induction kit without worrying about it contaminating the maf

It's £650 for the Ectek + MAF
or £900 or more for the Simtek so it is £250 difference after buying the new MAF

Try Prosport in stockport,Manchester or the RacingLine in halifax, or even Carplanet in warrington .
But if you want the best give Bob rawle a ring (BR developement) as he does travel to you

also yr missing to point with the Simtec........ as its a stand alone ecu, with Ecutek is just mapping the oem ecu.

But what benefit would the standalone give me? For when I want to revert to standard or...

Did a google for BR developement but came up with nothing - you got a link please mate?

Thx

with a stand alone ecu (simtek , motec etc etc ) there are much more tune-able than the oem ecu....speak to whoever you choose to map yr car as they will explain the options better than me.

link here:
http://www.brdevelopments.com/

bob is well know as one of the best mappers(if not the best) for ecutek, simtek etc etc in the UK.

But beware he is in demand so there is a waiting time of around 1-2 months.

i would say try Prosport in heaton mersey, stockport first as they are nearer to you

Not too bothered power wise as I'm keeping the original turbo, he says, lol...
But would like to sports decat as have already got full stainless up to the down pipe at the moment.
But would like to make sure it's running well mainly as I'm sure it's over boosting st the moment already

do what i done if you dont wanna spend hefty money, just got a prodrive ECU for it £200 straight plug n play, transforms a std my99 into very nice daily driver - plenty of midrange torque increase.

and it can even run on 95RON fuel if you want
