Here now Sonic

Castrol Syntrax is a popular choice in Imprezas, it's not a bad oil, but when it comes to bigger power cars driven hard, it's not ideal as it's only a semi-synthetic.

Better ones are the Motul Gear 300, Redline 75w-90NS, Millers CRX NT or Amsoil Severe Gear. Those ones are really good oils and I'd go for ones of those in an Impreza where you want a top end oil.

If the gearbox is a bit crunchy, the Redline Lightweight Shockproof is a good choice.

Just use any gearbox oil usually about 75/90 the oil will probably outlast the gearbox anyway

They're all good, it's difficult to say one over the other. The Motul is the most popular, closely followed by the Millers and Redline

Hey Tim, what oil would you recommend for a 07 Spec C with a clutch LSD equipped rear diff? I will be getting Motul Gear 300 for the gearbox, but i don't see anything suitable from Motul for a clutch LSD differential needing 75w-90.

Hi

Here's the Motul one

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68953-mo...ferential.aspx

The Millers CRX LS NT is also worth considering.

Hi,
I'm getting a crunch when driving hard between 4th and 5th, and occasionally between reverse and 1st, on a '97 UK turbo, so going to change the oil, should I be using this http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-744-cast...productDetails
Sorry I know everyones asking the same questions, but I want to get it right first time !

Syntrax is worth a go, it's a pretty decent semi-synthetic and it should help to sort out the crunching.

Cheers

Silkolene Syn 5 race is a good oil to, I have it in my G/B and diff, although I only bought it because my 1st choice of Motul Gear 300 was unavailable, that said you won't go for wrong with any premium oil.

Davros,

For the pennies it costs, get a new one.

Budd,

Syn 5 is really good in some cars and in others it gives notchy shifts etc. If it works for you, keep using it as it's a top end oil at a reasonable price.

Cheers
