My scooby might be a right off - advice needed
Should be write off.
As the title says - UK Classic Turbo 1999 on a V plate.
Oil / diesel and rain do not make a good mix, especially when on a new road surface coming off a roundabout. Lots of fishtailing and a trip accross three lanes was invovled, thankfully no one was hurt. The one person who did see the entire thing, didnt even bother to pull over to see if I was ok, they just drove round me and off into the distance.
Wasn't even spirited driving, was just on my way to work, the next thing I know, im saying hello to my back end. Held two of the skids which effectively was just a massive drift along the A1, but the final one got the better of me, and helped me get real intimate with the central reservation barrier.
Front bumper completely damaged, front wings are miss aligned, back bumper scuffed and out of shape. Engine cut out, cambelt pulley damaged, highly likely that the valves and pistons have gone. £350 before they can even do a compression test.
May buy back off insurance, depending on costs of repair (bought at £4000). Spoke to local garage - estimated £1800-2000 for a complete repair job.
Will I be able to source another engine, and get the bodywork patched? Sorry no photos. Insurance already say its an 'at fault claim' as they cant blame it on anyone else.
ME = Pissed off, will probably only get £1600 for it max. Excess is £350.
Do I start looking for another classic now, or do I wait?

Sorry to read that....never nice having an accident especially in a car you love. I can see no harm in looking around at Impreza's but I'd wait until you know all the in's & out's as far as the insurance claim is concerned before you go making any big decissions.

It would be down to who ever spilt it, which would most probably be an overfilled HGV (petrol staion on the roundabout in question), but obviously there is no way of finding out who made the mess. Had a look at the road where it happend, but because its been raining heavy all day, not much of a sign -if had seen it, i would of slowed right down
