Hi,

Car is a MY02 STi Type UK Prodrive Style, today I went to select reverse and lifted the ring up, moved to reverse position but the lever would engage the gear, it was like something was stopping it.


All other gears are fine, any ideas what this could be? Someone told me there is a cable attached to the ring that allows reverse to be engaged but it felt the same amount of spring/tension to the lifter as always.

Help appreciated

 

Worn or stretched means the interlock won't be released.

as you mention jack the car up and get someone to lift the reverse lever and see if the cable is pulling the reverse lockout correctly.
