Default is the standard air intake pipe really that restrictive?

just looking at buying a panel filter and saw this..

is it really that restrictive? as lol i know a car thats parked up that has one.. came on it from japan, if its any good i'll swap it with my standard item..

i just thought it was for show

You can buy a SAMCO hose for less than half of that and it will remove the flexi bit in the middle. It's not so much restrictive, just disrupts the airflow. Not sure whether it makes that much difference though

The newage induction side of things is one of the changes that Subaru got right when it moved on from the classic.......aside from a panel filter you don't really need to change anything untill 350 plus BHP D

we'll i'm aiming for 400 next, so i'll just swap it next time im at my friends yard.. i guess every little helps
