Default Clutch Upgrade for 2004 Sti

Hi there.
I own 2004 STi, EJ20, 6 speed Gearbox.
I want to buy Stage 1 clutch but all i see is a 2005 EJ25 fittment clutches...

Does the EJ25 2004-2009 cluch kit of EJ25 would fit as a replacement of the original cluch of the EJ20 STi?

Thank you,
Simon.

Yup, the EJ257 STi kit will fit the EJ20 STi.
A cheaper way of buying the various kits on market is to source a mix of OEM and exedy parts:

Plate (30100AA920) is £104
Cover (30210AA670) is £115
Release bearing - Exedy one off Ebay £30
Spigot bearing £10 off Ebay or OEM part 806212020

Total £260 for a clutch kit able to take 400+ lbft!
A bit cheaper than an Exedy stage 2

You may also have to factor in a flywheel skim.

Thank's for the quick reply.

What is exactly the "STAGE 1" upgrade over the OEM EXEDY Clutch?

Does the parts number you wrote are the Subaru/exedy OEM Parts?

OEM > Stage 1 usually means a higher clamping force plate and possibly uprate cover, depending upon the retailer.

The part numbers I've quoted are Subaru (although the parts are actually stamped as Exedy).
The parts I've listed could be compared to a Stage 2 Exedy equivalent.

The subaru OEM EJ25 clutches are uprated over their 2 litre cousins due to the extra torque from the 2.5 engine, so rather than buying a proper 2.0 Exedy uprated kit, it appears to be cheaper to buy a mix n match 2.5 set from the dealer.
For some reason the dealer price for a release bearing is £127 compared with £30 from Exedy , yet the other components from Subaru are at a very competitive price.

Is this the specific clutch kit?
http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/Clutch_Specifications

I can see the kit includes plate and cover.

Can't see anything on that link?
Is it meant to be an OEM replacement?

The US one is aimed at the 2.5 engine as they've never known the 2.0 version out there.
The second one is presumably for 2.0 engines as it cuts off at 2006.

TBH there has been a lot of problems with exactly what parts you get in Ebay kits that i'd keep with sellers such as APi, Lateral and Aztec.
Their prices seem to be better than those Ebay ones anyway.
