DCCD problems STi Type R MY99

DCCD problems STi Type R MY99
Hi guys,
Got a bit of a problem with the DCCD in my Type R MY99. Driving home from work last week in the snow i noticed the car was very tail happy on the last stretch of gravel roads home to my house. When i checked the DCCD, the lights in the dash wasn't on and the thumb wheel had no effect. So now the car is practically rear wheel drive, witch wasn't a lot of fun in the snow...
Now when i turn the key to second position (before start) the locked light in the dash is on and after that it shows the diffs setting. But just a few seconds after that there is a distinct click from somewhere around the ECU in the passenger foot well and the diff-lights go out and the diff is fully open.
Does anybody have any idea what might cause this?
