Default How to refit front stub shafts and circlips?

Hi

Does anyone know how you get the circlips back on the front stub shafts.

Got a second hand six speed box for fitting in my classic but it came without stub shafts, so found some stub shafts but these came without circlips, so ordered some new circlips and oil seals but.....

How do I get the stub shaft and circlip back in the box with the circlip in the correct location????

I hope someone can help.

Thanks

Steve

I think I've solved it, looks like someone on here has sold me 5 speed stub shafts claiming they were 6 speed ones......

So, does anyone have any 6 speed stub shafts for sale, needed urgently!!!

Ok, I now have yet another question, whilstwrestling with the gearbox last night I fitted new oil seals for the stub shafts, I did mark the bearing carriers but did not count the number of turns so now have to reset the bearing preload and backlash on the front diff.
Does anyone have the settings for this please?
It is a 2002 6 speed manual box with open front diff.
Thanks

That's great, exactly what I need.

I think what confused things is I put a post in the Market Place wanting some 6 speed stub shafts, which someone PM'd me about and I brought a couple of months back.
Have now got round to doing the install and without having any to compare against assumed that what I'd purchased was correct and tried to fit them in the diff, couldn't get them in with the circlip and started to get a bit confused, so pulled one of the bearing retainers off to have a closer look ( needed to come off to rpelace the seals anyway ) decided to dissassemble the 5 speed box to look at the stub shafts on that and when I got it out found that they were exactly the same as the '6 speed' ones I had purchased.

I think we'll be able to sort it out from the manual it appears you just loosen/tighten each side retaining cup until the back lash is correct.

How difficult can it be...........................
