Default Boost issues-0.5 bar help?Ideas?

Hi I'm looking for any advice to what is giving me this half a bar issue, the story is I bought a classic 93 wrx, had it for a short period the oil pump failed and the big ends went. £1400 later I have a new engine fitted that runs well except only boosts to half a bar although sometimes it will just go and go and go in excess of 1 bar and is wicked cool fun. I've thought of getting a manual boost controller but fear this might just be masking an underlying problem.

Also when it does boost in excess of 0.5 and it gets to about 1.1 it starts to hessitate and misses abit and certainly doesn't seem to run to healthy.

Any ideas anyone??? Other than take it back to the garage who just don't seem to want to know. Name and shame scoobyteknix Fleetwood.

Start by checking all boost and vac pipes and cleaning the boost control solenoid

fitting a electronic boost controller should fix it0.5 bar it will make that with acuator pressure alone, got electronic boost controller fitted to mine and with it turned still boosts to 0.5 bar
problem you have is with boost solonoid or vacumn pipes just check all pipes etc

The problem need sorting, not masking ffs

Boost controllers have a few uses but only on fit and healthy engines.
