Hi all

The diff on my 03 sti 6 speed needs to be changed, I have been put in touch with a guy who is scrapping an 03 sti but it has a 5 speed box. Would I be able to used this on my car?

Any help much appreciated

 

If its 5 speed its not an STI so no. Type R 5 speeds run the 180 diff that you need. May have to swap the crown wheel depending on your current ratio.

 

Type R R180 diffs won't be suitable as they are a 4.44 ratio.

Your best bet is to source the correct diff which if it's a UK model will be a 3.54 R180 or if its a jap model will be a R180 with 3.9 ratio.

The R180's use bigger shafts that wont physically fit into the five speed diff.

There's plenty of them about and prices arent ridiculous.

I have been quoted £350 for a refurbed one, but was just looking around to see if i could get any cheaper.
