Default 05 sti

I currently have an 03wrx, was planning on remap etc, but as I have had it 3 years now am thinking maybe best to change to an 05 spec sti rather than spending more money on this, only real issue I have is running costs. Looking on price guides and spec of car my car is stated at 22.2mpg urban and 30.7 overall, sti is 18.2 urban and 25.7 overall, is there really that much in it. Has anyone done the same change and noticed a massive difference.

no massive different imho.. remap would see better mpg..

some people like the challenge of starting with the wrx.. but if you have the money to upgrade to sti it would be worth it rather than spending out on the wrx imho

Thats what I was thinking tbh, as I have a few parts on my wrx that I could remove and then fit on an sti, the cost of changing doesn't worry me as this is the longest I have kept a car in a long time, I was just never happy with my previous ones, but I still like my wrx just that I know the longer I keep it the more its likely to cost on repairs etc. I only average about 20mpg in my wrx which is probably due to work being 3.5 miles away just don't want to end up regretting the decision if I end up with about 15mpg.

I had a bugeye WRX and used to get 24mpg on average. When I got my JDM '05 STi which, admittedly, had a basic remap for UK fuel, I got 21mpg.

When the 3" exhaust was fitted and remapped, mpg went to 22mpg, maybe 23mpg if the tankful included lots of miles at 50-60mph.

Once the 2.5l was fitted, with the same turbo, it was about 1mpg worse - 21 maybe 22mpg. Really can't complain
