Hi Oilman,

Just about to place my order but could you confirm which oil would suit my car best.

Its a 1999 V5 with a fully forged 2.1 stroker engine, 330/330 power at the moment and just for road use.

Was thinking either millers 10w/50, Pro S 10w/50 or Motal 300v 15w/50.

For both of you I'd go with a 10w-50, but they are as good as each other, so go with any brand preference you have.

Hi,
What grade would you recommend for a 2008 STI hatch with a PPP? The hand book appears to recommend 5w/30. I know when it was serviced they put in 10w/40, which made a noticeable difference to the mpg, big hit during cold starts.

A 5w-30 or 5w-40 are the ones to go for

5w-40, 5w-40 oil, 5w40, 5w/40
5w-30 oil, 5w-30, 5w30 oil

Go for a 5w-40 if you use it on track at all or a 5w-30 if you are looking at getting better economy. There isn't a massive difference between the grades though. Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. As it's a fairly new car I would go with a good oil, just to make sure it's getting the best it can, but the Motul X-Max and X-Cess and the Gulf Formula oils make good cheaper alternatives.

15w-50 oil

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of mid range choice as those grades tend to be for either older cars or performance ones.

looking to order some oil but not sure what to go for ? i have a 2.5 fully forged running 1.5 bar and 450bhp+ any help would be great

im thinking the 15w50 motul300v as will be tweeking map for more power etc.. very soon or would 10w50 be better ?

would you say these two oils are better than what i have now ?? as im running 15w50 mobile 1 and is there any reason you recomend these two and not the motul ?

Technically they are the next step up quality wise to the Mobil 15w-50 so well worth a look.

We do recommend the Motul its just that 10w is more friendly on start up then 15w.
