I have just bought a 2001 Impreza GX. I came fitted with Prodrive body options and 17" Prodrive wheels (it was the dealer's demo car). What can I do to improve performance?

Firstly welcome. I'm a proud Sport driver and to find out what others have done, why don't you join the Subaru Sportsters at...SubaruSportsters@yahoogroups...

I've just rolling roaded mine and it's 148BHP and that was sucking in warm air due to my crap air feed at the time and bonnet shut!!
You'll get loads of ideas from the lads/lasses on the site

Greetings fellow N/A EJ20 owner,

I'm glad to know someone is suffering (with me) from envy of guys here getting 140+BHP with turbo soobies .. oh well I found that the best thing about N/A engines is the absence of lag and very smooth power delivery. On a short and narrow drag, if you jump a WRX.. you normally can keep pace upto around 120km/h..

Here a short power (at wheels) history of my RX (EJ20 nonturbo):

Stock (6000kms) = 66KW (88HP)

K&N Pod Filter and Long 3" intake pipe = 68KW (92HP)

Added Link piggy-back computer = 77KW (103.95HP)

Added ART 4-2-1 extractors, hiflow cat,
2.25" exhaust system = 88.9KW (120HP)

Added Unichip (no gain in peak but heaps of midrange)

More to come soon. If you want, I can email you the dyno chart.

Remember, your GX is lighter than the WRX so you should feel the power more... IMPORTANT - make sure you upgrade your suspension and tyres!! I lost traction on all 4 wheels too easily on stock suspension/tyres

I fitted STI5 suspension to my little old Sport and it's superb.
Are you going to this big meet in Nottingham? Quite a few NA Scoobs are going...fly the flag for the non-turbo community!!

Sports are great! I have had two and now own one MY97 and an MY01 Forester S Turbo.
The Sport is lowered by 3/4" and is running 205/50 tyres with the necessary geometry changes. Motor has DIY air box mods. and a ScoobySport backbox. Would like to do some more tuning when I have finished with my S Turbo! See other thread.
