Default rebuilds

is there a certain milage when a sti engine will need a rebuild?

Aprox 60,000mls is a safe bet but others will dispute it so dont take my word

An even safer bet is 10,000 miles

Seriously, they don't NEED a rebuild any more than any other 'performance' engine. It very much depends on how it's been driven and maintained. So, no easy answer, but somewhere between 60,000 and 160,000 miles is probably the answer you're (not) looking for.

The originals seem to need one for definite at some point, say 25k miles + (eek). The new shaped Scoobs (blobeye & hawkeye) don't really seem to need one, must have stonger engines. The horrible ugly new one ... probably too early to say albeit there is a thread running that says they will need one too
