Default Simtek Questions

Hi guys i am running a simtek on my 03 wrx sti type uk prodrive model

It currrently is running as per below

simtek ecu, with anylag and launch control on a switch on/off
de-cat
prodrive back box
standard re-circ dv

My questions are if i change to a atmospheric bov, will it make the simtek ecu mapping off and make it run like poop?

Also if i change the exhuast system say to a full system consisting of a manifold, sports car, centre section and blitz nur spec back box again will this mess with the mapping

and can i just take my car to any mappers and have them map the simtek for me?

cheers

Kent, but he travels all over. Not kidding he properly knows his way round the software, sorted me out in no time at all.

Def sounds like det flashing. Solid light is gear change, repeat flashing is det warning. You can add some octane booster to help, but if you are going to get it tweaked asap don't do that as it will mask the problem you want to sort.

Have you been told what the two different maps are set up for by the previous owner. Maybe there for different fuels? You havent said what fuel youve put in?

cheers guys

with the antilag and launch control off, its mapped on high octane the last time i filled up it was with 97 octane at a toal garage maybe this is not high enough?, i normally fill up with bp ultimate unleaded which i think is 98 or higher?

it could well be just flashing telling me to change gear but im not sure?

anyone got any ideas if i will need to change the map if i change the bov/

cheers

ok i would guess its been mapped on ether shell v-power or tesco99. bp is crap and not used very often if at all in scobbies. It will also have two maps not related to the launch or antilag. This maybe set up for a high and low boost map or a high or low octane fuel maps. depends on what the original customer asked it to be mapped for. First thing i would do is fill it with some decent fuel. And yes if its been mapped on 99ron the 97 your using wont be much good. The map could be changed using a switch or also using the throttle pedal and rev counter. what you really need to know is what there mapped for. I would be asking the previous owner

Wink

i have a simtek ecu with anti-lag and launch control. i do get the odd flash with my engine light and have been told you will get a little det. my car was mapped to run on shell v-power and its always best to stick to the fuel it was mapped on, tesco and shell are the best imo. try to find out what fuel it was mapped on.

to change your map setting to eco (base boost). put your foot on the ac pedal and turn on your ignition, wait for 5 seconds and your rev counter needle should move to either 1000 or 2000 rpm. now lift your foot off. 1000 rpm is usually your high boost setting. if the needle moves to 1000rpm then with the ignition still on put your foot back on the ac pedal for a further 5 seconds, it should now move to 2000rpm. switch ignition off then start the car. should now be in eco (base boost mode). you will tell as car wont pull as hard.

if in doubt you could speak to david at api.

hope this helps

as long as the bov is not leaking it will not effect the map..

exhaust change will effect it.

antilag should be on a switch
