Hi has anyone converted a classic scoob to electronic power steering yet,using the vauxhall steering column?Looking at this for one of the mods for next years new car.

why would you want to?

 

More room under bonnet, pipes run very close to the external wastegate so overheat sometimes losing power steering.less drag on engine.just a few reasons lol

well the new legacy has it and so does the diesel might be worth having a closer look at them

 

Have a look around migweb a lot of the guys do this conversion on none scoobs but all the info you require should be there, I know the mk2 escort boys have done this.

 

Cheers mate got the steering column so soon as car is ready will be seeing how it all lines up.

 

I built a Mk2 Escort and used the popular Corsa B electric PAS. It works very well, even with 7.5" front slicks and tight chicanes. Our doubts were about the motor keeping up with the driver through multiple chicanes but we've had no issues so far.

Very impressed with the unit, just make sure you have very strong mounts for the colomn, there is so much force going through it..

Saying all that, ive never run one on a 4wd car. But then i've never had a problem with nothing more than Prodrive GpN PAS lines, even with 35degree+ ambient temps, aggressive ALS and slicks all has been fine.
