dump valve debate
Debate,i have a bailey dump valve fitted.are these better or worse than standard?last owner fitted it,but why would you fit an aftermarket one?are there any benefits.let the games begin!!
Pro's
A silly noise
Cons
A silly noise
Cost
Ruins smooth running
Slight increase in fuel use
Potential bore-wash
Backfiring (affectionately relabelled as 'pops & bangs') might cause...
Potential catalyst damage
Potential valve damage
Potential turbo damage
All for NO PERFORMANCE BENEFIT WHATSOEVER !
The car is designed with an ECU which relies on MAF and AFR readings to run smoothly, efficiently and reliably, and the OE recirculating DV is tailored to work perfectly within that set-up. What kind of idiots replace a perfectly suitable part for one which gives no extra performance and might actually reduce it, could cause reliability issues and makes the car run worse, and often for a ridiculous amount of money ?

Thanks guys. That settles it then.the original was in the boot along with one or two other things when i bought the car,so now its coming out of retirement and back where it belongs.(its good to have some advice from guys in the know)
Just pull off the vac hose to the Forge, unbolt the 2 bolts holding it onto the IC and refit the OEM DV. Then you need to make good the recirc connection between the recirc outlet port on the OEM DV to the turbo intake hose's recirc return port. You would have had a hose for this - have you still got it?
i need to make some calls to the parts man again!
