subaru wont go past 3000 revs

Default subaru wont go past 3000 revs

hi i got a my99 uk turbo impreza and today i went out to it to go to the shops and it was lumpy on idle and chevk engine light was on! so i took it a wee short drive but as soon as it got to about 3000 revs it started to pull back and wouldn't go but would drive fine aslong as you didn't go above 3000 revs! oh and recently its started to hunt on idle aswell? any ideas? i thought maf sensor?

Limp mode, possably the maf sensor, could be the o2 sensor, you need to check the error codes.

Welcome. MAF sensor is certainly a likely culprit given those symptoms, but there are other explanations. Before you go any further though, search the board for instructions on how to read the error code(s) off the ECU and see what you get.

yep i 3rd that prob maf as i drive the same car and my symptoms were the same

All the above but before you go spending hard earned check all your inlet/boost hoses, a leak in any one of these after the maf sensor will cause similar problems.
