Default Help please with whining diff/gearbox????

I have a MY99 Type R with the DCCD gearbox, and it has started whining quite loudly, it has been doin it but my mate said it was quite noticeable even when he was in front of me in his car when out for a drive today, what type of diffs are on the cars please? and what could be causing the whining, wrong oil bearings etc?

Regards

Chris

It only does it when you are in gear under load so to speak, if you dip the clutch the whining stops

If i were to hazard a guess i would say your gearbox bearings are gone - probably the output shaft bearing. Best to change all if you're going to do so.

How easy are these to change if it is them? Or does that mean a new gearbox?
