Default 02 Bugeye, no boost! I'm stumped?!?

02 WRX with PPP kit is just not making any more than standard opperating boost for the actuator, circa 5-7psi.. Its got no grunt what so ever!

I've checked:

None of the boost pipes are blocked or split.
The restrictor/orifice is in the correct place.
The solenoid works if I put a test probe on it.
The ECU light is not on.

When the car is idling I can see 12v at the boost solenoid connector but when the diagnostics plugs are connect the solenoid doesnt click?

If I run the car with the actuator disconnected it boosts up fine, so its not a faulty turbo

Its also running a little lumpy.

What the hell could it be?

Sounds like the solenoid is open all of the time stopping the boost from building up.

What boost were you getting before? (Only ask 'cos mines only hitting 1.1bar and very rich, - I'm going to give my MAF a clean out). Mine's the same spec BTW.

I'm looking at it for ScottJ (he's a member on here) He's just bought it..

I've checked the solenoid and when not powered up its closed & sealed plus if the solenoid was stuck open it would have the opposite problem as boost would be bled away from the accutator.

D'oh got it the wrong way around. Could it be faulty MAP sensor? What about getting the ECU reset?

Could be but I'd expect the MIL to be on..

Where is the map sensor on the bugeye, is it the little sensor on the throttle oppsite the TPS? On the earlier models its with the solenoid.

BTT

Anyone else got an idea of what the issue could be, or what we can test?

There is a fault finding section in the works manual, somewhere on SN there is a link to download it (its the US version but its always sorted me out).
