The first time you get your car mapped you will pay for the licence and then the mappers time. So for example the mapper may charge £100p/h or just £250 and then on top of that you would have to pay the licence which say for example is £300. So that would make a licenced map £550.

You only pay the licence once so say you go upgrade your turbo and a few other bits and bobs and want it mapped again this time you only pay for the mappers labour and no licence.

*Prices are picked at random and are used as an example*

A ecutek licence really offers the confidence that the mapper is reputable as the investment is high, open source mapping can be done by anyone with a laptop and a £80 lead. If the open source mapper is good the remapped car will be just as good, just you save about £300. Only thing is ask around to find who the good ones are.
