Default Clutch slipping new replacement is extortinate!!!

Hi chaps, Anyone pass on any advise/info would be helpful.
I have a 2004 WRX. The clutch is on its way out.

Basically not having any problems selecting gears etc, but when I step on the throttle say in 3rd gear, i get to say 70mph then it seems the front wheels are spinning. They also spin in other gears.

I explained this to a garage and they said, its definately the clutch.

I've called a subaru dealer and had a quote to replace clutch £1180+vat

I then rang a local specialist who quoted £850

Does this sound right? I've heard its a big job to change the clutch but this is ferrari money!!!

Anyone know of any place in Berks/Bucks who may be able to help without me having to chop off an arm??

Was thinking of taking it to a garage and part exing it, but the clutch starts slipping when driving hard.. so they would probably find out.

You are looking in the wrong places

We can supply you with a Exedy Organic Clutch for £199 delivered.

A local garage will be able to fit for around £200 (agree the price up-front).

That's £400 total

PM me your email address for payment link. Delivered the next day

yep i was checking out your website yesterday. Problem is i'm struggling to find a garage that doesnt want to charge less than 7 hours labour x £60 = £420..

I've put the word out to a few friends who have some contacts but i still cant believe how much it would cost to go to a dealer or specialist for a new clutch and fitting!

Should take no more than 4 hours.

Pick up a secondhand flywheel and have it skimmed first to make the job quicker/easier.

Whereabouts are you?

6 Speed uses a different type flywheel. The others are much the same.

As mentioned earlier, I reckon the whole lot can be done for about £400 (5 speed) or £460 (6 Speed). That's taxed, delivered and fitted.

Average garage charges £50 per hour, clutch change is a 4 hour job.

Only thing I would add is to have the flywheel skimmed (£20-50).
