After much deliberation I've decided it's probably a good idea to get rid of my Terzo as I need to save some money for a while.

I'm about to take on a mortgage for the first time and when I did some budgeting the other day I was shocked by how much the Scoob was costing to keep on the road!

Current thinking is to get a Mini Cooper for the following reasons:

1) It's fun to drive
2) I'll save huge amounts on petrol/servicing/insurance
3) It's style and quality are leagues ahead of a Scoob
4) It should hold it's value

Plan is to keep it for 12-18 months or so while I get used to the mortgage and then hopefully be in a better position to get back into a Scoob after saving some money.

And yet...

Every time I put my foot down, hear that flat four burble and feel the kick of the turbo I think...I can't get rid of this car!

I really am in two minds over what to do and any thoughts/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Bas,

And I remember you posting that you would *NEVER* sell your car to buy a house! You little tinker!!

Why would you buy a new car and suffer from depreciation!!

Hope you are keeping well!

Remember: you'll never find in any other car that feelings (for that money) you can easily compare the Scooby's performances (modified) to a Porsche ones... and you want to drop into a Mini ?!?!
This was the philosophic speech...but then comes the reality and the money...and it's not good
you know your budget but anyway it's a real shame to rid a scooby
Sorry for you M8

Cool

Mate,

you can always find a way if you really want to keep the car. I have been unemployed for 12 months and have no savings but somehow I have still managed to keep the P1

I can't bear to sell her even though I know it would be the sensible thing to do. Nothing compares to that flat four..

Keep it, you'll lose more by selling up and buying a new car.

Hi Andy

I'm good mate

Damn...I thought no-one would remember that. Yeah, I know what I said but that was before I did my sums!

And the way I see it a Mini shouldn't lose more than my Terzo over the next year anyway

Lenny - LOL...could guard against tea leaves too

Cico - I could keep the Scoob for now and see how I manage but I don't want to be in the position of having to sell in a panic in 6 months time if I find I can't...and with the value having dropped another couple of grand

Cheers

Bas
