Non-starting scooby
I went to work this morning - car was fine. Came out of work after 2 hours, to go to next job, and it would turn over, but not fire. 
Called the AA, the chap was very good. Within about 15minutes, he knew it was lack of fuel. He looked at the electrics under the dash, to find out if it was the alarm interfering with the fuel pump, or the fuel pump itself, or something else.
After another 20mins or so, he knew exactly what it was. The connection block under the rear seat had started overheat and melt slightly, and one of the wires had a dodgy connection. He put a pair of blue terminal connectors on and now it runs fine
, but the block does need replacing. Apparently, this is not an uncommon problem.

It's a 1992 WRX impreza, Japanese import. The terminal block is underneath the rear seat, drivers side. The bottom half of the seat needs to be moved to see it.
Everybody should check to see if there's has started to melt. It might be possible to start a fire!

Common fault on the classic apparently... I had a starting problem and the RAC checked it too... unfortunately He could not find the fault, it was the Cam sensor on my car which I cured after much cursing, expense and knuckle rash..... someone on here pointed me in the right direction and a cure.. sound as a pound now!
Mine's an 03 STi and I do have starting problems, which come and go!
I already had the rear squab out to locate a water leak, so I checked the connector, sprayed with elec. cleaner and re-connected anyway.
I've also had both crank and cam pos. sensors out, cleaned, magnet ok, but still have problems from time to time.

Common problem
Hello mate,
A common problem on the 1st series cars, not too sure about the later ones. Mine (94 WRX) got a lift home twice on recovery trucks before I sorted it out. Was the terminal block melting - job to find as well. I posted a bit about it at the time - some time ago now (4yrs ago + ?)
