hi mate i posted the same question too this week as i have had to replace the outer joint on the drivers side rear,i have ended up rebuilding both of the shafts with new boot clips and grease, when i poped the passenger side one out the circlip stayed on the shaft but on the drivers side it stayed in the groove in the diff,i have a friend who breaks subarus and the three driveshafts that he has removed from cars have no circlip on then either so that leads me to belive that it stays in the diff, anyone else had this, there must be someone????????????????????

Hi Guys,

This is normal on early cars, they have one clip on the shaft & the other one stays in the diff.
