Im waiting for my daes to pop through my letter box this week.

I had intended to change my oem downpipes before fitting, BUT i have descovered i need new rubber, and have no scoobycash to get the downpipes changed.

SO can i fit the daws with stock downpipes (middle can and backbox are custom catless)or is it best to wait.

Wll i see gains with the oem downpipes? what sort of boost should i be looking at?

Can't see it making a difference - with or without the dp there'll be an improvement, just that there'll be a bigger one with the DP as well, but that would be the case if you just had the dp...

Also the same boost could be aimed for - having the dp would probably dampen the overboost, although I must say that I have never had any overboost anyway (well, not with the dawes ) & that's catless.

Given that it was my car that got the crappy figure, I should point out that I discovered the week after that the car had a MAF sensor fault on the day and after being serviced and an ECU reset it was a lot better

Just in case anyone thought that decatting and adding a filter meant losing power

had not heard of the maf failure m8 but the figures for a standard car plus Dawes are still good.it's on the road you feel the biggest gain.

Thumbs up

After out x-country escapades at Crail I'll certainly agree with that - the Dawes does make a big difference.

There is a difference even on a standard car.

On my Standard-ish car (just PPP BB), but with OE DP and mid, and the Dawes running @ 1.1bar (peak and held with no spiking or wobble ( )) and 2mm bleed hole, I got 244bhp 247ft/lbs. Without the Dawes it was 229bhp 221ft/lbs.

Not bad for £35 (or free in my case )

Matt

P.S. Looking forward to the de-cat DP and mid

You don't mention what MY car you have. The Dawes will make a difference irrespective of the downpipe fitted. The Dawes should bring in boost a bit quicker, and higher than standard if you so wish.

If you have an early car with the larger turbo, you should be able to install it, set it up and leave it. When the dp goes on you may have to adjust it slightly as boost may rise, however it will now bring in boost even quicker. If you have a later car with the smaller turbo then you may also have to enlarge the bleed hole more than you did pre dp.

I'd say fit it whatever! You'll have all the pipework in place so when the dp goes on the worse case is that it might have to come out to get the bleed hole enlarged. Just install it in a way that makes it easily accessable for adjustment.

Enjoy

Justin

The downpipe should help keep in cylinder temperatures down which can only be good when running higher boost on a small turbo with top mount.

I don't think it is unsafe to fit the Dawes without a downpipe especially if you are limited by the standard ECU fuel cut, but I wouldn't by happy running 18-19 PSI without a downpipe and octane booster.

i plan on 16 psi

Sound ok?

I think thats what most people with standard ecu have it set to, can i go any higher with a uk99? i presume itlle be ok providing i dont hit fuel cut (i have afr aswell to check fuleing, and ill probaly get it on a select monitor as soon as its done so see if things are ok)

16 sounds fine - depends on whether your gauge is accurate. If genuine it will be OK. If you are really running 17 you could be dicing with fuel cut.

fitted a Dawes to a m8's standard MY00 and set it at 16psi.took it to a r/r day and got 241bhp-norm/244lbf-torque/136@wheels.bit disappointed with paw's until a fully decatted+filter MY00 went on and got 213/206/117.

just wanted to add that on the road the car is far better.
