Unhappy Too much oversteer & generally unsettled

As above really, initially the car feels planted into to corners but as I progressively turn in more it seems to suddendly dig in and give too much oversteer. The back then lurches round to meet my bonnet Struggling to find a happy medium on the suspension settings, tyre pressures etc to make the car feel stable cornering & under braking.

This is the setup at the moment, if anyone could give me general pointers on settings etc, I would be grateful cos its driving me mad.

Full Geom just done (Prodrive)
Suspension:
KYB adj Struts, Standard Eibach TypeR Springs
Front set on 2 (out of 4 positions) Back on 4 (out of 8 Positions)
Tyres:
Yoko Parada2,
Front 30psi/Back 29psi cold.
Handling Additions:
Whiteline DropLinks Front & Back
Whiteline Anti-lift Kit
Whiteline Adj. Anti-roll Bar on Medium Setting

Thanks in advance, if you need any more info, let me know.
Cheers.

I imagine the Whiteline Anti roll bar is at the rear of the car? In that case set it to the softest setting.

If that still doesn't sort it out, you can then put the stock anti roll bar back on since it's softer than the Whiteline one.

The last option after trying the two above would be to soften the rear dampers.

Thanks Saiklon, Ive had the Anti-roll bar on the middle setting (at the rear) for a couple of years and have been very happy with the way it kills understeer.

But after fiddling with the suspension settings and tyre pressures its all gone to pot. Cant remember how they were and to be fair its only when I'm really pushing it that you notice something is set up very badly...... not the ideal time to have a car squirming at high speeds.

I think probably some time on a track where I can get consistent feedback would help but I have limited knowledge of what to turn to effect what response.

I know you have a preferred "tuner", but a word with Rick at RE Motorsport and book a trackday at Elvington with him in tow could transform your car.

HTH

P.S. Or I'll do it ! LOL

I had just the rear 24mm arb, set to soft, and i was never totally happy with it, giving the oversteer you say. I then fitted a 22mm front, on the hard setting, and the cars perfect for my driving style.

One click harder on the rear struts to start with....

maybe, 3 psi more in the front

Does she pogo over bumps or wallow in corners ?

Thanks Mit, I'll have to have a look into getting a front roll bar.

Dunx, I've put the front pressures up a bit, front struts up 1 notch and the rear struts up two notches to be fair its a massive improvement.

But something has come to light yesterday.... had my tracking set again, and when I driving away I noticed my steering wheel wasnt straight. So went back and set the wheel straight and redid the tracking, drove away and still steering wheel off slightly.
So my thoughts are there must be some movement in a ball joint or track rod or something, which would explain why it goes into a corner fine and then seems to snap and grip more.

A bit more investigation is needed I think.

Mine's a bit out too, not worth worrying about....

Perhaps it's just a case of tweaking it step by step, till you are happy ?

My 95wrx settings,

1mm toe in total on the front, with just under 1 degree camber (off the top of my head 0.75ish max available on std adjustment). 22mm perrin on the soft setting. KYB AGX setting 2

Straight toe on the rear with 1degree 14minutes camber. 25mm perrin on the softest setting. KYB AGX setting 4

Its unflappable on track with 888's (205/40/17)

Now on the road i use Paradas, its not as good you can feel the tread blocks moving around but you can just drive through it (ignore it) lol.

Now it goes sideways but only being very rough and throwing it into a corner.

On the track tyres it does a 1m 45sec around Cadwell, std engine/turbo etc only a chip and exhaust.

Might be worth having the corner weights checked...

haha cheers Dunx, I do find though that I tend to throw it in to corners rather than being smooth.

Rossi - you dont mean wheel weights do ya?

No, but you shouldn't bother corner weighting your car as it hasn't got "coillies" on it !

As per dunx, not wheel weights, corner weights...

I thought you would be able to adjust these seeing as you have adjustable struts... my mistake .
