Springs or Suspension kit??
Guys do anybody have any experience of a great set of springs or suspension mainly for road/street use but quite competitive aswell, in other words an all rounder! any help appreciated
I changed my STI springs for Tein S-Techs.... and have to admit, the STI's were are much much better than the Teins, but i kept them on cause they make the car look swish hehe...
well.... untill i steal enough money for Cusco's....

I have looked into it in deapth and adjustable coilovers are the way to go. If you have money to burn, some can be fitted with a kit to do all the adjustments while sitting in your car
Great guys, cheers for the info.. I think I'd better keep saving then and go for adj. coilovers! Which ones though guys Tein, D2, HSD, Eibach, Spax, BC Racing, Cusco, JC-Project.... Arggghhhhhhh! Too many please help???????????????????????????

i thought coilovers where the way to go when i first bought my type r so i got cusco coilovers and they were the worst thing ive ever done you cant beat eibachs with standard struts un less you track it then the coilovers are the best but for road use you wont beat sti5 suspension.

as it's not just about springs and shocks
and need to consider arb nylon bushes front and rear /uprated rear drop links (but not front as you tend to understear if uprated
) strut brace front / rear plus you could go for front h brace to stiffen chassie even more
anti lift kit and so on

What about H&R springs no one has mentioned them yet
You better go out in a car with coil overs before you consider them.... they will have your eye ***** falling out over every pothole

could not think of the name lol if i took him in mine he would go for just springs
as it's hard as nails and will shake your teeth out
on cuscos and white line
Coilovers are that bad hey... I'm getting lost here! H&R? haven't heard of those. I'm sorting the handling and stopping out first before any engine mods begin as it's probably wise so looking for some great handling but practical and brake conversion if anybody can list what I need as I'm out of my depth???????????????????????????????????? cheers for the info so far guys!

I wouldn't use coilovers for a road car just use Eibach lowering springs and nylon rear subframe bushes. Once the body roll is sorted spend some more money and sort the understeer out by fitting a 22mm whiteline anti roll bar and solid rear drop links. Standard Sti Subaru's come with solid front drop links as standard so check whether these are fitted to your car before replacing. Anti lift kits are very good and once all the above is fitted have the suspension geometry setup along with four wheel alignment by a specialist.
Don't be tempted by a bump steer modification or strut braces as they don't work effectively so you would be better off spending your money replacing worn suspension and running gear bushes with upgraded Polyurethane bushes. But use nylon bushes your rear subframe as these alone will transform the feel of your car and reduce body roll.

My few pence on this.
I had a Newage WRX wagon which was quite modded, remap, decat, Brembo's etc and found that STi Struts and Eibach springs were excellent.
As stated new uprated bushes, rear ARB and drop links certainly made a big difference in conjunction with the struts and springs. The car was sharp enough for some spirited driving and comfortable for normal use.
I have pinks (STi springs and STI shocks) all round on my Classic and they are a very good package too. Japperformanceparts have these as a full set with mounts etc on the shelf for about £275 + p and p.

im running on ohline coilovers and they are harsh. but im yet to turn them onto the soft setting. but when i do i doubt i will notice anydifference at all.

I will definately have to come along to the meets and checks the others out in the flesh as there are so many variations to choose. Arrrgggghhhhh! Dicisions hey!

I had Eibach's on standard shocks on my MY00 UK car, and it hardly lowered it at all, more just leveled the car out, was a bit disappointed with the look on them to be honest, but the ride quality was great.
I then switched to Tein Super Streets (one of the more forgiving coil overs on the market) I've driven a car with Cusco and they were unbearable IMO. The Teins were Ok for road use but still a little hard really for me.
Si's car is an excellent set-up IMHO with standard shocks and H&R Springs, give a nice ride height whilst retaining a comfortable ride.
