Default Is a red top engine stronger???

As above really. Still looking for a good scooby. Decided I want a classic STi. Obviously don't want to risk a dodgy 1 so was looking for 1 with a rebuilt forged engine. Although I came across an advert stating that this car had a redtop engine which is forged as standard. Is this correct? And are they stronger than the normal engine? Now I'm confused again, do I buy a low mileage redtop or a higher mileage rebuild. Anyone had any experiences or advice on either?
Thanks guys

the jap import stis came with a slightly stronger engine, the pistons are forged but if i rememebr correctly they still have the weak OEM rods which are the same as in a UK turbo/turbo 2000. so although they are called forged.. they are not neccerily the 'forged engine' people expect i.e. ones that run and are capable of serious power.

max power they can take is up to 350bhp. main thing is to look for one that has very good documented service history and mapped for uk fuel if a later classic.

or you could look for one thats had been rebuilt lol sorry am not giving much advice am i

It's only the Pistons that are forged in the STi engines unless its had a fully forged re-build at some time - ask to see receipts for "built forged engine".
