gearbox stripping

Default gearbox stripping

need any advice anyone can give with stripping gearbox down ive managed to get the transfer box half way off but there is a snag and no visible reason why and i cant get the gearbox to split in half is the a knack to it

Its glued together remember.

As long as all the bolts are out its not too much trouble usually.

ill give it another go do i have to remove the splines that the driveshafts go one

No, if you move those you will have to (setup) preload the bearings again when rebuilding.

the transfer box wont come all the way off am i supposed to remove the shifter arm if so how lol

yeah all the back has to come off as there is an internal plate that bolts to both halfs.

wicked ill see what happens dont suppose you know anywhere i can get the all the individual bits for the gearbox do you?

i got it all apart and now im thinking can i change the insides for something like a wrx or an sti and keep the gearbox housing and thank you again for getting me this far

Hi wondering if anyone could hep. i have a loud clicking noise coming from gearbox area. first i thought it was driveshaft now ive narrowed it down to the front diff. I was just wondering if this is a common fault and how much work it is to change? cheerz everyone dan.
