Does yoru ECU know your gear that your in ??

I would like to get myself a gear indicator LED for on my dash and just wondered if the ECU's know what gear the car is in all of the time. Then you could possibly take a feed from that if at all possible ?????

newage does as it controls the vvt if that helps

From: Spec C - 12.5 @ 110(340/350)

The newage ECU estimates the gear via rpm and vehicle speed. AVCS(VVT) is determined by load and rpm, it's not gear dependant as far as I know.
