looking for some advice please guys....having the engine rebuilt on my 95 sti ra and would like some advice on wen to drop the oil and what oil to use at what time....its being rebuilt recently but started knocking so went straight back but the engine builders said to take it back after 1000miles for the oil changing surely thats not right????

Are you currently using mineral oil?, as I'd change the oil filter and oil to semi synthetic at 500 miles and a further oil change before 1000 miles to flush any remaining mineral out of the engine before using fully synthetic. As for the knocking take the car back as sounds like bearing damage.

ye i took it back as soon as the knocking started as my 1st wrx died that way lol....i think they will be putting mineral oil in yes just waiting for it back now...thanks mate

i hear what you are saying slowboy but im uneasy with there advice as thats what i did the first time and it all went wrong! i know people who have had engines rebuilt before and had there oils changed much more often than once at a thousand miles....however im in no position to argue right or wrong with anyone because if i knew myself i wouldnt be asking you guys would i! thanks for the advice
