Default crankshaft capoot

not sure whether it will work out cheaper to just by a new engine as the big end in crankshaft has gone, and if a new engine is cheaper what age of engines can fit a 1997 wrx jap import..? or whether it can only be specifically a 97 engine..? can anyone help or have suggestions?

A new engine is certainly not worthwhile as they would cost more than what the car is worth.

And just remember if you buy a second hand engine the big ends might give up the ghost in 1000 miles.

IMHO i personally would rebuild the engine you currently have and throw some forged pistons at it, while i was doing the rebuild.

Good Luck (there will be plenty more suggestions from others so hold on)
