Whine noise from the rear

Whine noise from the rear
Car; MY95 WRX Import
It's had a new engine, gearbox, rear diff, rear axle In Dec 07 & early 08 & a new exedy clutch kit last week.
However it whines every so offen, i'd say 4-5 times a week (if that) and it will only happen while i'm on the brakes, once I lift my foot off the brake the whine will vanish and sometimes not come back, however sometimes it will be there for a couple of mins.
Just unsure what this could be, I do need my discs & pads replacing but could it be something do to with my diff?
She is due for a service as well, so not sure if the diff oil etc etc needs replacing.
Would search but I don't have permission to use it!
