Default Rear Diff Exploded into flames in M6

I just brought my second scooby its a V plate turbo 2000 on the way back from picking it up after doing about 70miles the bloody thing exploded into flames. doesn't look too bad but was dark so not sure yet. is there anywhere local to stafford or cannock it can go for repair or would i be best doing it myself. i'm not scared of a spanner and do have quite a tool collection just not really used to working on cars especialy one as complicated as these.

i was feeling vibration when easing off the power just before it happened. i was only doing 70mph. car is absolutly bog standard, not even a new stereo in it. don't think it had a service for a long time and been standing for 3 months. had to top up engine oil before i set off as it was a bit low. put 500ml in

doing it myself with some help from maydew, not sure if i should get the diff from central subaru or API. been under the car today trying to get the diff off. struggling getting the trailing arm bolts out. driveshafts are free but not enough clearance to pull em out.

managed to get drive shaft out of the drivers side. trying to get the long bolt of the suspension linkage/wishbone thing. the nut is off it but i just can't pull the thing through. put loads od wd on it to. i think the prop is gonna stop the diff coming down. looks like you have to drop the front end of it down then slide it forwards. will be on it in the morning i want to go and get the diff before you get here. still not sure where to get it from. when the drive shaft came out i had not 1 drop of oil come out of the diff so i think it must have been low on oil.

Big thanks to Scott (Maydew) for helping me out. took most of saturday to get it off and fit the new one, poor bugger was froze lol. managed to get the Diff from XSpec for a really good price. Just need to get some bushes for the subframe, where the diff studs come through. Bodged for now.
