Knock sensor - anyone had one fail or go faulty?
As subject - has anyone had the knock sensor on their engine fail or start to fail? If you did, what were the symptoms that you noticed, or what would you expect to find if it did begin to fail.
Think this might be a possibility on my car - in beginning to fail (no ECU fault code) it becomes more sensitive and retards the ignition giving a "flat" feel when on boost. Also a possibility that it might become more sensitive to the noise from the exhaust and be picking up false readings etc. I'm far from an expert on this - just trying to make sense of the info from my resident technical expert who has suggested this as a possible cause of my probs
Any thoughts?

Tried the reset - after which it was fine for a couple of days, then went back to it's old self
Running on SUL pre-reset and SUL + Octane Booster after the reset.
I'm going to try resetting it again and then see what happens...

The knock sensor can be unreliable. I had a similar problem with mine, where the Link ecu kept retarding the ignition at circa 6k. It took a while to identify a faulty sensor, and this was done with a set of det cans, confirming the engine was "clean", even though the Link ecu was showing telephone no. det's.

Thanks Mark,
The plan is to fit my Link with a safe map and see what det count it gives - therefore if we know the map is safe and shouldn't be detting, and the ECU is giving a high det reading, this leads us towards the Knock sensor giving out faulty readings.
